RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
Recriprocal pricing works for me. It costs a NR $111 to come to Ohio and hunt some of the biggest bucks in the US. (Shotgun only, however) And we have public hunting out the wazoo.
I'm not arguing with you guys. I just hate seeing it come to this. Just a few years ago, it cost me $50 to hunt in WV. That allowed me small game, deer (gun/bow/muzz). Now the price has more than quadrupled. Most businesses work like this: More volume...lower prices. States work like this: More volume...higher prices. They have lots of NR hunters...so they'll raise prices. I have no problem paying more than a resident. I have no problem paying a couple hundred bucks to hunt in a state. That's not my issue. I just don't want it to some to "outfitter only" or leasing only. That's what happens when the price goes up. Good luck in your fight... |

MOBOW...I didn't take the forests comment as an insult. I was just wondering what you mean by that? I've been to MO, and it's real similar to Ohio...everything from mountains to plains. Was that a crack on Iowa? Just wondering...

Look gentlemen, Fair is fair if your state want's to charge high prices for hunting tags then so be it. Just get used to the idea of paying the same price your state charges us. I will remind you all Iowa and ILL started this price war.I don't see why they needed to as both states have caps on NRs,unless they wanted to further discourage out of state Hunters. There is no way any of you can justify the 300.00 + prices for white tail deer. Oh by the way Drache, every hunter ihave seen from Iowa down here for deer season was packing a center fire so they don't feel the same way you do about shot guns. Hey 150 class what do you bring down here to hunt with???? Ken 101st abn div 71-73

Hey guys if you want to argue over deer tags thats fine with me. price wars for tags and drawing tags is inevituble when states see money to be made it's just the way it is. condeming sombody for going where the tags are cheap is like standing out side wally-world cussing out oldladys and other folks for daring to come in because theres a sale on. high deer tag prices don't bother me because i don't hunt deer. how many of you would complain to the dnr in colorado if they were only charging you 50 bucks to come and elk hunt as nr's not many the biggest fear most of us have is like whats happend out west and in TX like pro-line said outfitter or leased only then everybody loses unless you have more money than you know what to do with

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
Don't blame the hunters or even the DNR for the rediculous price that Iowa charges. Our fine people that we put in the state capital are the ones to thank for this.
knorberg - My weapons have been either loaded onto a string or loaded from the end of the barrel. Again, my argument is that I think your state will lose on this one and I told them that. Some of us NRs received letters from your state a couple of months ago about this. Their intent is to treat the NR hunter the same as the other states threat their residents when they go out of state. That is not a new thing but for Missouri to do it would come at a cost. I think that if you want fewer hunters there you should do one or both of two things. 1) Put a cap on the number of hunters. 2) Raise the price of the license. My state has done both. I don't think that is what the people in your government are after. They seen to think that even with higher prices they will still get the same number of hunters. Some of us have told them that isn't going to happen. What does you motel, restaurant and convenience store industry say about having fewer hunters? |
RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
I sure hope they put a cap on it we do need something,i don't want to see the same thing that is happening to ill.i hunted there during the muzzle loader season and i sure would't wannt to try to find a free place to hunt. there is so much leasing there by the big companies everybody is losing hope they get that straighten out. i have bowhunted deer in iowa for the last 7 years and any farmer i have talked to about your shotguns season says it is a joke 80 percent of the locals carry the shotguns in gun rack cased then pull back to into the fields and get behind the seat and get the ole high powered rifle out and go hunting, heck fire you can even here them talking about about that 300 yard shot at the local store, you go get a drink at the bar nd they say the only people who use shotguns are the people who hunt on public property,or aren't smart enough to figure it out and yes the area i hunt is closed to centerfire, but you do have some pretty good bucks up there i got five on the wall to prove it.
