unless its a big boy, i usually pass on anything opening day, i guess for several reasons:

1. you have 4 more months to hunt and fill 5 tags.

2. give you more time to pattern, on into the rut around october

3. warm weather gives you a deadline when tracking down game.

4. no use spreadin blood and scent from draggin so early.

5. who wants to shoot the mamma when shes with her kids ?!?!? heheh

It was really warm this morning...humid too. I saw 7 deer by 8am..one tiny 4pt. I shot a big old doe at a little after 8. Hit her good. She went about 30 yards.

I try to lace a doe the first day every year. It breaks the ice and it's still a month until the big boys are runnin' wild.

No pics...but it was kind of cool having my 4yr old helping me skin.
