It looks like the full moon is on Nov. 13. That in mind when would be the best time to make the trip up to hunt?
Dont know if its the same ALL OVER but from what I ve learned the first few days on the down fall seem to be the best?????
thanks

So you're saying Nov 13-16 should be the best?

My experience has been the rut peaks around Nov.4th where I hunt in IL. Nov1-10th RUT....

Though I prefer to hunt the last week of Oct.

We've had a ton of guys booking late this year banking on the later rut due to the full moon. IMO that first week of November is always rocking no matter what the moon does as long as the weather is normal.

I dont believe the rut is directly tied to ruting activity, if anything a full moon IMO allows deer to run all night and sleep all day, I'm sure the moon may have some influence, though I doubt any of us know that complex relationship.

I'm a big pre-rut guy, anyway, so ya id rather be early than in the middle of it.

1st week of NOV is pretty solid, so is that last week of OCT

I'll go with the first 2 weeks of November. I believe it happens the same time every year.... although the temperature is the most deciding factor in the amount of deer you will see during legal hunting hours IMO.

It is hard to beat the chasing and searching that goes on in early Nov. If you are planning a trip to Illinois and want to plan it around rutting activity, plan on the first week of Nov. Early Nov is as sure of bet here in Illinois as there is. Good luck!!!

I would have to agree with the fellas. For some reason where I hunt, November 3rd for several consecutive years has been the best day for me to see a lot of movement especiallybetween 6am and 9am. I would also say that it does seem that IMO,if there is a full moon, the deer move more at night. I guess to them it's like having a spot light in the sky to light up the fields for feeding and helps themnot only feel safe, but it iscertainly cooler than it has been during the days of November the last couple of years.Of course ican't prove this theory but it certainly seems to be the norm around my neck of the woods.

Good Luck,
