Its official: WI to have 4 day Oct. Antlerless hunt
#1
Not sure if you saw it but most of Wisconsin will face an October antlerless hunt. This despite the earlier assurances of the DNR that units having doe to buck kil ratios of 2:1 or better would not face their return. Hmmmm...I hunt unit 61 and we did that in both the last two years. Now the spin is that the whole REGION had to achieve that ratio to avoid a return to an October hunt.
At least it is going to be Oct. 16 thru 19 instead of around the peak of the rut as in past years..

I'm confused what you're saying? is it an earn a buck tag program? I wish we had one here in IL, or at least a earn a 2nd buck tag program.....the area I hunt is a tad out of whack, but I hear some counties in IL are very back buck/doe, like 1:13 or something.

So at least if we have to have an October hunt, they are putting it in the middle of October as opposed to messing up primebowhunting time. I rant to a greater degree on my webpage, but I'll spare this thread in the interest of simplicity.

from what i know i believe that kansas and iowa and maybe some outher states have the early muzzleloader season and you never hear of those states having any problems with their herd control and they grow some quality bucks year after year.
