Anybody ever hunted Northern Minny on public land. My buddy, and I are considering a hunt up there next year and would love a little insight. Is it really crowded, even if you hike back in a couple miles. Wolf problems? Big Deer? I just emailed the dnr to request hunting regs, but haven't recieved them yet. Any advice? Thanks.

If you are going to rifle hunt, be prepared for a crowd! Ever since potlatch went to lease all these hunter moved into the stae woods. Archery and ML arnt bad YET.

Depends on where you want to go...The land in NE MN is way different than that in the NW. Also, what is North to you? The guy from Wadena is north for most in MN, but from where I lived, he is a southern boy.Perhaps you could narrow down some things and I'm sure people here would help.

I'm thinking North of Duluth, maybe up into Lake County. I'm pretty handy with a map,GPS,compass etc, so I am hoping to find an area that is off the road a ways. How heavy is the ATV use?

I may live in Wadena but believe it or not we have vehicles here. I do most of my bowhunting in the Bemidji/Grand Rapids area.
