Taxidermists need to make a living too. Anyone mounting deer for $200-300 per head is either cutting major corners, or has another source of income. I don't know one single taxidermist that is wealthy from taxidermy alone. To think that $500-600 for a deer is inflated is absolutely rediculous. It's probably still less than most people here make.
It is good to find someone that loves their hobby/business and that is not just doing it for inflated prices

I don't think that I would actually use someone that only charged me $300 for a Shoulder Mount, but thats just me!
I also like the fact that my Taxidermist doesn't even want a deposit, now thats confidence! He had my 4 African Mounts hanging on the wall before he even mentioned a deposit!

Here in my area of Arkansas $350 is about as high
as avery goodshoulder mount gets.All the Taxidermist
i know make very good money!It's hard work but
they make a good Living if there good and fast.
A friend of mineis one of the Taxidermist in my area
he can mount 3/5 deer a week.And they look very
Good.We hunt together in IL when we go up there
we pick up ALOT of Animals.Because guys up there
don't want to pay $500+ when they can pay $350 for
just as good of work.

If people are willing to pay $500-$600 for a mount then that is what they aregoingto charge. I also know of taxidermist inthe south and southeast that provide great mounts for $350-$450 tops and these are people that do this for a living and live fairly well. They also love what they are doing.

I guy who has done 5 heads for me Jim at North american taxidermy , fair price nice mounts. I had one, I didn't like how something turned out, no questions made good on it looks great .
