Default Chicago Area Gun Ranges

Anyone know of the closest outdoor gun ranges around the NW Chicago suburbs? I have a new muzzleloader on the way from Cabela's for two hunts this fall. Need a place to range it in. Prefer 200 yards. Thanks.

This one is in southern Wisconsin, just a few minutes over the borderborder. They have a 100/200 yard range.

This one is about an hour and forty-five minutes or so from Chicago. They have a 100 yard range for sure, not sure about 200.

I have shot at both, Bristol is a controlled enviroment. Buffalo Range can be a little scary at times.

Good Hunting,

Bowflew is right about Buffalo being a bit scary at times. I usually wind up getting in a few faces there. If there is ONE PLACE I will not skimp on safety it is the firing line. But you really have to push to get 90 yards out there. Ask the guy with the big mustache nice and maybe he'll get you all the way to the right of the long range away from the benches. You have to bring your own table, etc. but that's as long as you're gonna get at Buffalo. NOTE TO ALL: You shoot free on your birthday at Buffalo.

You want the range down at near Kankakee in Bonfield. You can go up to 300 yards down there and it's a nice range with safety foremost.

Give them a call at (815) 635-3198

Bonfield? Now that might work out. I go down to Bears Camp in Bourbonnais often in August. Could combine that in a couple trips. Is this a private range?

Well just found the Bonfiled range website but it will cost me a membership and $250/year to shoot there. Considering I bowhunt 90% of the time this is not a good investment. I rarely shoot guns, just when I draw a good tag out west or before deer season here.

Zim check again. Atleast once a year they open to the public prior to firearms deer season for sight-in. They charge like $20 or something and I think they do it the first or second weekend in October.

Forget the website and call them.........never mind calling them, I just did.

The lady in the office said sometime in late October. But hope that will workout for ya.
