IL DNR gave permits to politically connected hunters

In response to Scott B. ...............
that is what your friend says and it may be totally true and may explain his name on the list.
However the list reeks badly because there are so very many who recieved permits in MARCH when applications are not even accepted until April.
Doesn't that seem a little amiss to you? I cannot possibly believe any explanation that these listed permits were just leftovers after the lottery issuance when the lottery had not even taken place!

Instead of in-fighting you guys should just get a lawyer (first make sure he's not on the list) LOL then get enough signatures for a class action lawsuit.Find a loop hole in the wording of who gets the permits and prove that the system got out of control! Take itone step further and look for a returned favor whether it be a( I'll let you hunt hereand you let me hunt there deal or even an autograph from a celeb) That is where the law makers will care (that is calledtaking kickbacks)Forget about the US Sportsmen Fund helping out because most likely someone from there gota permit too! Then just expose it and get enough people angry about it. Hold some rally's in front or the DNR building and start afund and print up some bumper stickers, bonbard theirphones and I personally would also expose the celebrity hunters too by boycotting thier products. Just pick the really big names and get yourpoint across. I remember watching a hunting show not long ago where the celeb hunter said he almost didn't come to hunt Ill. but got a last minute permit and this was a week before theopener!

Instead of arguing with eachother you should argue with the politicians. Like someone else posted before it isn't a republican\democrat thing it is about doing what is right. You can read into it two ways
1. It doesn't effect the general draw lottery anyway (but tell that to the guys that didn't get drawn)
2. They went and issued more permits to fit thier agenda ignoring sound biologist madereccomendations on how many permits to issue.
Either way this is really disheartening to the Ill. sportsmen.

I wonder if any of the HNI boys?

In 2004, a Brenda F. Valentine was issued a Randolph county permit (#110025) on 10-01-2005.I believe that ALL firearmpermits, including left overs issued in daily random drawings are gone by October 1st for Randolph county.
But in 2006, a Brenda F. Valentine was issued another Randolph county permit (#1062512) on 03-02-2006. Now this is a month before anyone can even begin to apply for permits.
This whole thing isn't fair to sportsmen (and women) who have to go thru the proper channels and take their chances at getting a permit or two. I was thinking that thisis probobly like not being able to go to the box office and buytickets to a big "sold out" ball game. If you know the right guy, scratched the right back or have made the right contribution, you somehow get in the game - and they're usually better than average seats.
Then my thoughts went to the fact that the ball game teams have private owners and the DNR is public. And that don't set well with me.
But it's nothing new that thereare things that don't smell too good in Illinois politics. And nothing changes. So I guess the only one who could tell you anything about the permits she received is her. How she got the permit or whether it was fair is probobly water under the bridge now, so I'll just ask this.
Brenda, did you get one?

Is HNI's Brenda Valentine the same as the "Brenda F. Valentine" on the list? I saw on the list what you are refering to.
I sure wish I could get permits issued in March! That would sure make it alot easier to plan for the season EIGHT months ahead of time!

If you look at the Dates on
03/02/2006
Randolf County
Thereare some women whoms names I am familiar with that all got issued tags on the same date for Randolf County
Brenda Valentine
Marti Davis
Lisa Methany
Aylssa Haukom
There were a few other women that also got tags issued the same date for Randolf County but none of the names I am familiar with... kinda makes me think they must of had a womens hunt going on...... and jeese I wasnt even invited[&:]
