Default Where to hunt bear in WI

I may draw a tag this year, its not a shure thing. But I will have four preferance points. So now I guess I need to figure out where to go. I farm in the southern part of the state and have no conections up north. So I was wondering if anyone had some advice. It seems my best bet a drawing this year would be to go for somewhere in A1. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Terry Wehler AKA Cheese-head

Cheese-head,the good news is that which ever zone you draw a tag for has lots of public land to hunt.

Terry: I don't know if I'd get my hopes up on drawing a tag just yet. I know of a guy on another site i visit who hunts A1. Can't find him at the present, but I posted a message for his email addy. Are you looking for someone to do the work for you so you can hunt over baited sites? I'll pass his email addy along to you when I get a reply. What part of S. WI. are you farming in? Don't suppose you have any birds down your way?<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Nub: yes that is what I need is someone who could bait for me. I know that my chances are not that good but last year close to sixhundred drew with 4 preferance points in A1 so I can at least hope for now. As for the birds ? If its grouse I an't seen or heard one all fall. If is't Pheasant that you fancy I have any where from 3 to 6 cackling in my marsh every day. (these are truely wild birds they been making a comeback the last ten years. just the other day I saw three hens.
I am guessing we live less then a half hour apart. My place is half way between Plain and Sauk City About a mile south of the big town of Leland. Terry

(I can skin a buck or run a trout line)

Terry: You'll have mail as soon as I'm done with this reply. Sounds like you might have a chance then in the draw. I thought it took a few more points than that. I don't apply for WI. bear tags, wife says I don't need a forth. Took all mine in Ontario with the last about 5 years ago. In fact, he's standing right next to me now.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> You gonna hunt with gun or bow?

If you recieve a permit in zone b i would be glad to help. However ive got 5 points and it will still be a couple years even though we have bear running around all over the place. I see just as many bear as deer. If you get selected in b let me know. Good luck.
