Illinois gun owners, time to put your time where your keyboard is.
All Illinois gun owners are encouraged to attend the Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) in Springfield on Wednesday March 14, 2007. This is an annual event where members directly lobby their representatives in the Illinois House and Senate. This year, the ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Association) is partnering with local and internet organizations in Illinois to increase participation and make a bigger & stronger impact in Springfield. Take a vacation day, a personal day, do whatever you have to do- you are needed in Springfield on March 14!
12:30 pm Registration/legislative briefing- Howlett Bldg. Auditorium
1:30 pm Illinois Gun Owners lobby legislators- Legistators offices
5:30-7:30 pm Reception with legislators- Illinois State Library
Charter Bus Pickup Sites and Schedule- Joliet Normal
No driving worries, no parking problems, great comradeship!
7:30 am Depart Joliet Gander Mtn (park at farthest edge near outback)
9:15 am Normal-College Hills Mall (park west side of Hobby Lobby)
11 am Lunch on your own at Stratton Bldg. cafeteria
Bus Fare $20
For online reservations go to IGOLD.isra.org or call 815-635-3198
On a personal note, if you plan on attending, this is not the day for camo hats, or "Guns kill People.." T shirts! This is the day for khaki pants and a polo shirt. We have to let our legislators know that we are everyday, working individuals with families and jobs, not the "gun nuts" the media portrays us as being. Hope to see you on the bus!

RE: Illinois gun owners, time to put your time where your keyboard is.
Today, a friend and myself took the day off and drove down to Springfield to participate in the Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day. There was a decent turnout, nearly 1,500 responsible gunowners. We spent the afternoon in and around the capital building visiting our State Representatives and State Senators. We definately made our presence known in a good way.
Everybody, it is so easy to contact your representatives and they have tereffic staff members that want to hear from us. Emails are good but phone calls and visiting their offices are even better. If by chance you are not a member of the ISRA, I got to see first hand the good that the orginazation does. A very small price to pay to be proactive in protecting your 2nd rights.
