This story sums it up pretty good. Although it says a 1/3 of the stores, from what I hear it will eventually be all stores.

They are basically trying to become a bigger Target type of store. I will say I think the decision to move away from rural America is a stupid one.

They cite demand is low but you can bet it is for a lot of other reasons as well such as the hassle of selling guns in the first place due to all of the gun laws. In the end it is all about the money. This isn't their only problem. The huge home improvement centers such as Lowes and Home Depot are giving them a lot of competition as well.

Adding more exercise and fitness equipment is not going to make their store a more attractive place. I know there are a lot of people that go to Wal-Mart to buy their hunting and fishing items. Taking away the outdoors type items is going to stop a lot of people from going into the stores at all.

2 Super Wal-Marts here in Newark discontinued guns as well, but the Logan store still sells them.

WalMart just built right across the road from me. In a field I grew up hunting geese in. I hate this walmart, I hate every walmart. They get nothing from me!

You know how to tell when your near a Walmart. Look in the fields as your driving their bags are everywhere. If I was them I'd use plain bags without their name on them at least. Or have a emplyoee work day and pick up the fields.....like that would ever happen!
