Welcome Melsheeba, we need more women around.

Yooper, We have some great hunting that not many people know about. I love to keep it quiet, but it's getting more publicized year after year. The VanDammes sure have a nice farm. We have a good friend who's mother was a VanDamme. Sure is some beautiful country and some nice Deer/Bear Hunting. I think VanDamme still has that record buck from up there. I think it is ranked 15 yet.

Does the Knotty Pine still have all the dollars on the walls? If they do I have a few up there right behind the counter.... I was pretty good friends with "Bones" DeBacker and the Sundholm clan up there........

I don't believe they do, and there's a sad story there. About this time of year in 2004, a young man in Gwinn developed a brain tumor. I recall many of the details because my son was on the freshman basketball team and this youngster was on the JV. He was diagnosed in February or so and gone by August. He went to Ann Arbor for treatment, and also got to meet the president when he was in Marquette campaigning for the election. It was truly tragic and affected most everyone in our small community.

Anyway, I heard that the Knotty Pine took down all the dollars and contributed them to help cover the boy's medical expenses.

Very sad but, good for them for doing that.... Some of those dollars dated back to the 1950's. Very cool!!

Do any of you Michigan hunters know or heard about this black buck supposenely shot and taken here in this state.
Some say it was in North American Whitetail magazine a couple of years back.
Others say it was taken in Gaylord this past season , could anybody shed a alittle light here.

Thats an incredible animal. I have no story. The front feet look very skinny, funny in a way.

That picture has been going around for at least two years. When I first saw it, the deer was supposed to have been taken in Pennsylvania. It seems every time it goes around the state changes.
