That is funny, whenever we are out turkey hunting up near cornell we ALWAYS stop in that the Cornell Store to grab a pop. I have never heard of Rusty Nail
You may still be a little young for the Rusty Nail..... When you head north off of 2, you'll pass the Mead Plant just a bit further up on the west side sits the Rusty Nail. It use to be a popular bar/restaurant and then it was turned into strictly a bar..... They, although I never witnessed it, use to have mud wrestling in there LOL.......

Actually, it's the Rusty Rail in Cornell. And the Knotty Pine Cafe is still around too! I'm from Iron Mountain, but we hunt near Amasa. I live in IL currently, but wouldn't miss deer season back home for anything short of a nuclear attack!

Yea, deer hunting up there is something else. I know where the mead plant is, we have a good friend who works there. I wouldn't be attending any bars, but maybe we will have to take a look for it next spring.

Good Huntin' Fellas.

Your'e right The Rusty Rail... The Rusty Nail is in So. Michigan. I tell ya, all this talk is making me feel old LOL. I have often wanted to go back up there just to hunt and stop in at the Knotty Pine. When our place was sold the gentleman who bought it said I was welcome there anytime I could get up there. We used 10 fishing shanties, all with heaters and had close to 30 tree stands built when I left. I took my 2 biggest deer up there and before I was 17 and have never had oneclose since. Unfortunately, I only have my 9 point rack mounted which is a 140 class deer. The 13 I shot up there was lost in moves while I was in the military. (not my moves, my parents Ugh.) he was a 130 class, had him tattooed on my arm from an old picture. So, he's still with me.......

Those are two great bucks from the UP. In the last few years, there have been some better bucks coming from Dickinson county because of the management area, but that is the only management zone left in the whole UP, so back to killing spikes everywhere else. I love hunting here in IL just for the quantity of big deer, but there is nothing like hunting back home. I really miss the woods when fall comes around. Bird hunting si my wife's favorite thing to do, so we always try to get home at least once for a bird/muskie combo trip, and of course for gun season. My brother and I both should get bear tags this year which will be awesome. We had 9 different ones on camera last year, and that was just with corn for deer. With grease and stuff, who knows how many there will be!

There use to be and probably still is a dump between Arnold and Watson. They would trap the bears there and come release them on our property, about 10 miles away. The bears would make it back to the dump in just a matter of days and they would start all over again. LOL. We had a lot of smaller bears (visual) on our property and a few large tracks, maybe 300-400 lbs. from time to time. The pat hunting was great at our place in September and probably in October too but, that's bow season. Seen fox and coyote almost daily and a piebald doe would come eat at our front window with her 2 babies. I wish my parents had been more responsible with the picture boxes and posessions, these are things I'd sure love to share visually with people...........

I'm from Bessemer, MI (Western end of the U.P.), but I'm going to school in Big Rapids.

Yes I am going to Ferris. I like how big it is, you can't really get lost. I came down here to schoolfor the Professional Golf Management program but dropped it and am now in Business Admin. I'm a junior. Overall its pretty easy going and I like it.
