if he could get the taxing of imports, then i would vote.

i probably would vote for him, it might be funny just to watch him turn lansing upside down.

I'm not sure if he could actually harm this state any worse, so why not.

The thing is could he help lure / attract businesses to come to MI.? that's the 1,000,000 dollar question.

If this state would stop outsourcing jobs / bids to out of state companys that would help a hair. There are companys in this state that bid on projects and don't get them because some company in Texas bids it a little lower. Way to keep the money in the state! It's been going on for years, this state is run stupidly.

Michigan will be in the same shape as California real soon! Were closer than any one really knows. If anyone knows how bad fiscally CA is, they will tell you that they are past life support.

This state will be really bad off for atleast 7-10 more years.

I think Ted is too polarizing to get anything done, too radical to even hold his own party consistently. Might be nice to see him rile things up a little, hard to be worse than what's there.

I grew up in MI, it's sad to see what has happened but the reasons are clear and there's no easy fix. Basically a one-industry state, and that industry and its workers set itself up to be non-competitive in a changing world. All the current administration seems to be interested in is trying to maintain a status quo that has already failed when what they really need to do is change the business tax structure to motivate NEW industries to move in and replace the auto jobs that are NEVER coming back.

The green energy thing is laughable. They put those windmills up around my parents, not only were they all made out of state but they shipped in most of the labor as well. I think they only employ 4-6 local people to run the entire wind farm in a county that's lost over 1000 auto jobs in the past 5 years.

First thing, change the tax structure on businesses. You don't get a depressed state out of its current shape by forcing state/companies to waste what little tax dollars they have paying too much for goods/services from in-state vendors to keep what few resources the state has in the state -- you do it by having successful business that bring IN money from OUT of state, thereby creating jobs and bringing in more money. It's like stuffing the $3 you have in your mattress versus investing it to generate a positive return.

The current tax structure penalizes businesses for creating additional jobs. One of the last states to do this, with clear negative results. I have worked with companies that were considering a move to Michigan or a neighboring state, and this was the reason that every one of them went elsewhere.

Look at the states with much better economies....they aren't doing it by isolating themselves and trying to cut off business with other areas.
