What are the bucks doing in IL? The cold weather y'all have been getting should have them feeling frisky. I'm headed up to Pike Co.on the 28th. Just looking a for a little info if y'all don't mind sharing.

I hunt in Brown Co. prolly 20 minutes from you.
Its really starting to get exciting. The cold has the deer moving. NO chasing yet. Deer are active. This weekend should be good, the the next 4 will be much better!
The corn is prolly 85%out which is a plus.
Let me know if you need anything else.

I live in Pike County & it is definetly starting to get good. If you are coming up on the 28th, you are going to hit it just about perfect. My roommate saw a buck the other evening that was over 200 yards away. He rattled the buck in....missed him.....called him back in and killed him. The buck was a mid 140's 8pt. I went the other evening and had a young buck nosing a doe around grunting every step. Where are you hunting?

I'm in Greene county and I have been seeing alot of bucks starting to cruise and really working over the scrapes. I haven't seen any chasing yet but I expect to either come this weekend or next.

I'm hunting around between Nebo and Pleasant Hill. I have a very good friend that owns ground in this area. He also owns a 300 arce farm close to Pittsfield. It still has standing corn, so I don't know how much hunting will be done onthis farm. Might have to hunt it the first shotgun season.
Thanks guys for all the info. I was hoping I timed my hunt right.

I'd tell you but I haven't seen anything here yet in Henry County. Maybe the tables will turn this weekend.....there's a few spots I've been itching to get to when the time is right...but I'm sure they've already been hunted since it's public land. We'll see.

I'm going out tonight and have been hearing that the first "mini rut" is starting to take form. Bucks have been receptive to rattling last couple of days and are starting to cover some ground looking for does. This weekend is supposed to heat up into the 60's so we will see what happens. Duck & Goose season opens tomorrow morning so there will be a lot of shooting going on in my area.
