I applyed for an elk tag this year and it will be my first if I'm lucky to get it,
I heard theres good elk hunting in a small town called Wolverine .

Good luck getting a tag first off!

Although I don't know much about the elk hunting, but it is much different than whitetail hunting depending on how you hunt them. Elk hunting is alot more stalking and pursuit. You can still hunt but yu must find a bedding area or a watering hole or something. I don't know much about it though.

Good luck, Good hunting

Not to burst your bubble but elk permits are very hard to get. It can take a life time of applying to get one. My dad got one years ago when there was more elk and less hunters. If you get one that would be sweet. The way alot of guys hunt elk is alot of scouting and stalking herds. Good luck let us no if you get one

I check the D N R web site and found out that I wasn't lucky enough to draw a tag this year.
Oh well at least I can save the hundred dollars it would have cost for the permit.

I have property in Johannesburg, just a few miles south of where your at. I just was there this past week and had 8 bulls about 25 yards in the back of my land! Pretty amazing, all in velvet, the 2 biggest were 8x8's! The only problem is that I live in Wisconsin and you only get to apply if your a resident!
