I forgot all about the old Midwest thread.
This is the bird I shoot in the first MI Turkey season of this year (april 17-23). This was my first turkey hunt ever, andlets just say I got lucky. Shoot this guysabout 45min intothe season. I called him in to 6 yards and shoot him once he turned.
No onehad any faith in me and the old bow, that is when I do my best work.
Feel free to postyour pics here if ya got one, love to see um.
Ow yah, he had just under1in spurs and a 6in beard.

Congrats and sweet pic. Did you use a blind? My 1st bow kill I painted my face up, wore fake leaves pinned all over my camo, and sat on a three legged stool. Shot it at 20 yds, when he put his head behind a tree, I drew. I must have taken a roll of film posing with him. I used to hunt them with a gun and would only take one photo. The bow kills mean more. CONGRATULATIONS again. BTW, I now use a Double Bull, but I will never forget that 1st turkey with a bow.

Buckhunter, nice bird, do ya hunt the fall?
Rd, ya got it. I never am in the"woods" hunting in the spring (most of my spring is spent fishing, in the woods), it was somthing new that I am glad I did. It is a different world in the spring, the animals actvary different. Just wish there were less TICKS. Is Ypsilanti in the UP, I just cant place it,I am fromMarquette.
Bowhuntingfool, that is what its all about, if we were just out for the meat we might as wellpick up a 20lbButter Ball. Yastill got the fall, lots of birds in WI???? or so I have been told.
HChunter, I didnt have a blind, couldnt find one big enuf for my 64in bow. I had a nice pine tree that hid me well. He came in with a Jake, and all things went right, they both came in, turned and faned out. I couldnt beleve it worked that well.ThoseDouble Bulls are vary nice, just dont have the $ for one, someday.

Ypsilanti is down state between Ann Arbor & Bellville about 35 miles east of Detriot.
I hunt in Chelsea which is about 25 miles west of Ann Arbor but i have hunted up north in Kalkaska.
I like to be in the woods as much as possible all year round, winter's can be a bit rough but I can take it.

The first yearI bowhunted turkeys I painted my face and pinned fake leaves all over my camo and sat on a three legged stool. I must have taken a roll of film on that bird when I finally killed one. Quite an accomplishment without a blind. Way to go.
