I have 487 acres in Hubberd Lake Michigan.We log out some of the woods every winter.Every spring I walk the cutting and find a number of them.I barred some old cabins a few years back and they poped up their too.I also put in some feilds for the deer and they come up there.It seems where ever I work up the ground they will pop.I will be going up there this week and hope to find a few.If I see any more photos I'll have to go up tonight with a flash light!LOL

Had a long walk with the dog today after a couple days of rain and still nothing. No shrooms of any kind are up yet so still a little early. Dog rolled inhedge hogcrap so now she has to have a bath.[:'(]

mid michigan here and so dry theres no chance of finding any. expecting rain for next couple days tho so hopeful that the weekend might be good. im soooooo jealous of ohio and illinois lol. enjoy all and happy hunting!

Went out for the first time today and found 69 in about an hour. Found 40 under one tree. About 10 yellows and the rest were greys. Found them in Northern Indiana in Kosciusko County.

I went out again today and the only thing I found was a tick on the dog. It was her first one and it was pretty gross. We don't usually have many here but in the last few years they have shown up more and more. The trilliums will probably be blooming in a week. Perhaps then the schrooms will show their tastey little heads.

Found these last Thursday in north central Indiana. Found 18 nice sponge under one tree, biggest was 4.5 inches. Found about 30 very small greys as well. Havent been able to make it out since but my grandpa has found 4 pounds since friday. I hope to make it out on friday morning, hopefully they will still be around. Supposed to get near freezing here tonight.

HOLY CRAP is all i can say ive never seen that many shrooms buched together like that. That is one heck of a find.

Went out this afternoon and found 7 or 8 big yellows. They were starting to dry out haven't had any rain since tuesday and things are starting to dry out. I will post some pics tomorrow.

have been findin a few here in southeast indiana ....season coming to an end ... past the 700 mark so far (11 trips out) .... still have great woods to hit .... most of the ones i found on the last couple trips out had been up for awhile (decaying/drying) .... also finding fawn and oyster mushrooms .... along with verpa conica (type of false morel) .... still findin a few morchella semilibera (1/2 free morels) but mostly morchella esculenta (white/grey/blonde/yellow morels) .... if anyone wants to talk morels and has yahoo messenger .... contact me .... canis_lupus692002 ..... may end up headin to Mi in a couple weeks ..... good luck to all and take care

man i havent been able to find any here in peoria illinois. the only ones i have found were on accident when i was driving through the woods in my truck looking for a spot to go camping. found probably 15 greys and that was it. went today for 2 hours and didnt find a single one and went 4 hours on sunday with no luck. i hope its still early and i havent missed them.......[&:]

those look like they are rather old drew ..... found 42 yesterday while turkey huntin and gettin ready to go again today .... im tryin to post pix but cant seem to figure it out ... havent been on these forums for years ... lol ..... found a huge cluster of oyster mushrooms also ... but most were beyond salvage .... kept 3 .... also found 1 fawn shroom ... but left it to grow

Whydo you say they look old canis lupus? They were starting to dry out but they werent old.

why are you guys letting the mushrooms grow after they have popped? i have always heard that they grown under ground and then pop when they are ready. once they pop they wont grow anymore, or so i thought.....anyone care to explain?

not true they will continue to grow , these that i left for later were only 1/2 to 1 inch high and 1/2 inch around , so really to small to do anything with ,but there are those that will pick them

What's the best way to store Morels? For a couple of days? Long Term? I have a vacuum sealer, would that work?

have picked over 1000 this season now .... picked 100+ yesterday ...season is coming to a close ...had to leave over 60 due to spoilage .... picked all but 5 under a huge dead elm ... have sum awesome video ...they were everywhere .... i keep mine in a glass bowl with damp paper towels on top of the bowl .... and drip water on the towels each day ... can keep for awhile that way .... and as far as longterm ... i cook , let cool, then freeze in ziplok bags

you can dehydrate them, cook them and then freeze or this year i am trying some rolled in flour and then frozen uncooked .

i put mine in a plastic bag open at the top and have kept them close to two weeks in the frig
