No Rifles in Indiana!!!!????

I agree that a 30-06 might get a little scary. But, as I indicated above, if you're going to allow muzzle loaders that would kill a buffalo at 200 yards, then they might consider allowing the short-to-mid range centerfires. On a very rainy day, i would prefer a 30-30 carbine over something that might misfire and which doesn't allow a quick second shot.

You can always make the system that we now have work for you. Get an oncore pistol with a 15 inch or longer8mm barrel. I think Savage has a hand gun that would qualify also. So I believe that there a legal ways of getting most of that long range that you seem to want to have. Me the two places that I hunt the most they are not needed. Spend extra money? Nope
If I want quick second shots I can always go back to my Shotgun with a rifled barrel and Remington copper solid sabots. Right now I am pretty happy with my Knight extreme and my Savage ml11.

My point would be that if you are able to use a high-tech muzzloader that can knock 'em down at 200 yards, then why not make a 30-30 legal? It would mean few if any misfires and the opportunity for a second shot. The latter might mean fewer crippled deer getting away.

They can always buy one of these for a second shot!

Look at the regs, you can hunt with a centerfire pistol with a case {unloaded} of 1.5" or larger {pretty sure thats the length} and it has to be at least a .243 or larger. I hunt with .243 pistol, and have with others. Of course NOTHING beats a bow. If you read the regs on squirrel hunting you can hunt with ANY ammo, and yes this does include centerfire rounds. Hope this helps..........SKI
