Best Dates to Hunt Rut
#1
I'm in college and get limited opportunites to get home to hunt my home state of Wisconsin. I hunt in the central part of the state in Shawano County. Which weekend do you believe to be the best weekend to go home and hunt the peak of the rut, the weekend of Nov. 4 - 6 or the weekend of Nov. 11 - 13. Just wondering what you all think, thanks!

11 - 13. I took vacation to bowhunt WI 11/9 - 11/14. Had been taking the week earlier off buy the game cam and hunting experience has pushed me out. Warm weather to - hopefully colder your second weekend choice - gonna be warm this week.

11-13, According to Deer & Deer Hunting experts the 12th is the magic date. This is based on moon phases and past years. I'm sure it's approx. I'm going up the 4th also, but it won't get real hot and heavy until the next weekend. They will be chasing by next weekend, so you can't gor wrong with either.

First you don't want to hunt the peak of the rut...This is the time bucks are usually tied up with a hot doe and not moving much....You want to be in the woods at the peak of the Pre-Rut when the bucks are seeking or chasing does. I usually try to take vacation the first or secondweek of November. This year I will be hunting the big woods of northern Wisconsin Nov.5-9. I should find some big boys on there feet during this time. I think either dates will be good for buck activity. The rut should peak the week of Gun Deer season. Should make it interesting. Find the does and you find the bucks.
