How are the MN bowhunters fairing? I have seen a bunch of does and a little buck, but no shots yet.

Jeff, do you hunt up near Fargo? Just curious. I have not been bow hunting yet and am hoping this will be my first year, but my uncle and his friends are big time bow hunters. I still only hunt in SLUG areas and this will be my first year rifle hunting up in zone 2. They hunt down in southern MN, New Hampton and Farmington area. They have been seeing a lot of doe and bucks from what I have heard. The area where they hunt is full of deer though. I will be talking to them tonight to find out more, but anyways I was just curious where you have been hunting.

Yeah, I hunt about 25-30 miles east of Fargo. My girlfriend's relatives are farmers, so I have some good private land to hunt. I also have got some permission from another landowner, so I have some good land. Hopefully I'll take a deer somewhere this year, I shot my deer last year at home, in southern Minnesota.

Jeff, where do you hunt in Southern MN? I usually hunt by Farminnton, actually New Hamton (Hamton Hills). My uncle has a small horse Ranch in New Hamton and I hunt on his neighbors land up in some hills. A lot of deer in this area, but I wanted to try rifle hunting this year up in Roseau with a different group of buddies.

I haven't had my 10 days at 'em yet but the boys are reporting above average sightings. The flying TravI took 'my' 10pointer last weekend - it's a decent 8 with a pair of 2" drops near the tips...
Dad messed up on a Y - let the 8 go & shot the Y -
Boopy saw a few but didn't get a bingo....
They reported that last weekend was a bit ugly with the nasty weather but the ol' man is expecting big things this weekend.
I'll be up sticking mine in 2 weeks - can't sleep at night - need hutning - must have - can't survive... I'm starving....
We're in EastCentral MN - not too far from Hinkley
Aim small miss small

So far i've seen a few but nothing within my comfortable shooting range(25 yards). After the leaves are gone i should be getting some fairly close shots--hopefully.things have been picking up activity wise in the last few days.

I got my first shot of the year on Saturday, grazed a buck's brisket at 22 yards. I think the arrow got deflected, and I got some hair and drew a little blood. Hopefully he will be back, and the next shoot will be higher. Good luck to you all.
