Default Sunset Lake

I am going to try Sunset Lake again tomorrow afternoon....If anyone would like to join me......well the more the merrier. Also it is always nice to have that back-up shot. I went there a few weeks ago and had a pull off of about a 40lb grassie......I didn't have a back-up.

I plan on getting there around 1'ish.

C-y'all Later...

I was up in Chicagoland and wasn't able to do any bowfishing. (mom's koi were looking pretty tempting.. )

I'll let Ken tell his side of it. I got to go for about an hour and a half. We saw some good size grassies messing around way out in the middle but well out of retriever range and even out of workable spincaast range. I had just put new line on the Muzzy reel and it shoots pretty good.
With only about ten minutes before I was gonna hafta go ta work, I decided to take a swing. Well the first shot was at least 5 yards short. Think about that for a second. I knew it was a long shot and I still came up shorter than most of our shots are. LOL Now Ken is laghing at me and I felt bad about spooking the fish so that he might not get a shot and by the time I got my arrow back the fish is back right where he was before. Ken says "you didn't eeven worry him." I said "I will this time" and drew back, held even higher than before and let 'er rip. It's kinda coll to listen to line sreaming out of your reel for that long. I could see that I was right on target but the line didn't take off. The fish sure did though. True to my word, I worried him that time. I can't tell you I hoit or missed but either way there wasn't much KE left by the time the arrow got to him. Since Ken was on the other side of the cove and had a broadside view of the shot I asked "how far was that shot?". His answer "45 yards."

If he is a lyin I am a dyin....I have never seen someone try that far of a shot and even get close!!!!! I bow in amazement You are the true world champion! lol..... I would almost swear that the arrow bounced off of that fish by the time it reached him......

After Kendall left (I think he was cramping my style....) I began to look at all of the catfish comming up to the food I was chumming with. I just did not understand why none of the carp were comming up.....The I started to look a little deeper into the water and.........VIOLA! There they were! It was a ratio of 1 common for every 5 catfish but I began seeing them.....I shot 3 (not mentioning how many I missed [:-]) The problem was they were on average, 20-30 lb commons and I kept getting pull-offs even with complete pass-throughs! I got one about 30lb onto the shore then the arrow pulled out when he was 2 feet on the dry stuff then he floped twice then back into the drink he went.....I watched as he swam towards the other shore; looked as if he was dancing the funky chicken then he went belly up.....

I am going to be going back out there this Wednesday afternoon (on the 8th). I get off of work at 2, it takes me about 5 min to get there.

Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm...........nobody has turned in a koi yet, have they?

Whats more important Christine; mom's approval, or a bowfishing record?....Cmon now, lets get our priorities right!.

Are you going to go out Wednesday afternoon? (Sunset)

They were all commons; at least all of the ones I shot....All of the grassies were floating out in the middle of the lake.....I couldn't get to them..
