Gotta shoot something
#1
Well most lakes are still froze over. On friday My wife and I drove over to clinton lake to check it out. It is still froze from shore to shore, so again we still wait. Then yesterday I was up in the Jacob's creek area and just had to drive over and check it out. It is free and running. Still high and murkey. May be ready for a try next weekend if we get no more rain. Speaking of shooting something. Last Thrusday KBI-Prez brought me a nice freshly run over yearling. My and my trusty dog Pete drug it out into my back field, I might add in the pouring rain. It had just started to sprinkle when I tied my drag line to it. Just as I got the bottom of my hill it turned into a down pour. Of course I only had a sweater on. So we continued on and out it out into my chosen spot. My the time we got back to the house,we were both soaked, So i took the oppoutunity to give pete a bath. Well any how yesterday morning at 6am i looked out and there was a coyote eating away. one 110 gr V-Max later she was toast. I went out to get her and found that the deer carcuss was nothing but bones. Only took them two days to competely eat the whole deer. It usually takes about 5 days. I was over doing some scouting on Wednesday and talked to a local farmer. He told me that he knew a guy that was trapping the area, and he had already trapped 150 coyotes this year. That is a lot of dogs. He selling them alive to two different places. Wonder what they do with them?? I also picked up my trail camera yesterday and had 140 pictures on it, and it had only been out a week. One small punk buck, one buck had shed it's rack and the rest were does, and buttons. So you 'shed' hunters it is time to hit the woods. Just need the snow to leave to be better able to see them.
That pretty well sum's it up from here.

Glad to hear you're getting close to getting back on the water.
Nice shooting on the yote. Nice little setup you got there.
150 is quite a catch. The yotes are doing very well this year (unless they come near you, that is).
I see one or two almost every day where I work. They were out in force during the day chasing mice and voles when the snow cover was heavy, and just Friday I saw 2 doing the courtship dance in the blowing snow about 100 yards from the road. No fear, just coyote love.

Christine made a one shot kill! Beautiful heart shot. Here she is with our guide, Bobby. Bobby's all smiles because the last hog (mine) was the porcine equivalent of Steve Prefontaine. Some of the more senior members may remember him.

To make it fairI gracefully "poked" myself with a broadhead soon after the start of the race. [:@] Adrenaline is a magical thing.
Still more pictures to come.

Johhny b,
Clinton has open water at Mascoutnin and the ramp is open. From the DeWitt Bridge west to past the Marina is open. Fish the south bank.
Ramp at the Marina still has ice and most of the marina. Starting to thaw.

I'd be running pretty fast too if you were chasing me with a bow.

Congrats Christine!
Looks like the bacon is on the Prez next time we end up doing breakfast.
Can I get a side of starling with that?

Bigger picture of my hawg. Really quite uneventful after Kendall's 2.5 mile chase.
This piggie thought it could intimidate us away by bluff charging and chomping his teeth at me. (not that he had much in the way of tusks)
The 50lb Bowtech + 125 grain Muzzy 3 blade (480grain arrow total) proved him wrong. One arrow through the heart, and he was down in seconds.

I know Steve is going to make fun of my hair.[:@]
