Medic, welcome aboard, check out our website, IllinoisBowfishers.com for further info. Also, this weekend we will be down in your neck of the woods at Rend Lake on Saturday evening. We'll be there at 6:00 PM for a BBQ down at Sailboat ramp. Come out and join us and you'll have a great time and probably learn a bunch. Back to one of your questions, yes, I've shot both bodies of water that you mention and will be happy to share what info I can with you. Bighead is excellent smoked and gar is a favorite of some of our bowfishers so I'm sure they will share recipies with you.

I was checking out the illinois bowfishers site but was not finding
much info on it. I am really glad to have found this forum though
I seen that you guys were going to be at Rend this weekend I
thought about trying to go, I have a boat but not rigged up for bowfishing and I don't have any lights on it. Glad to here that Rend Lake is good
for Bowfishing though can't wait to get out and try it Think I will try and

Hey Med;
Welcome to the site. Just come to the BBQ at the Billy Davis Memorial Shoot April 22. You will learn alot just by loooking at the boats and talking with the guys in the tournament. I will save some BBQ for you.

Hey Medic.
Welcome the to world of bowfishing!
You're gonna love it.
Just what you needed...one more hobby you can't get enough of, right?

The best source of info right now is right here in the forums.
The website is coming along nicely, and has made a lot of progress in a short time. I have no doubt that it is going to be oneof the best bowfishing resources out there, but it is still being developed. It will take some time to get it where we want it, and I'm sure we'll add to it for a long time to come. That's what happens when you take the time to do something right the first time instead of just slapping something up there.

The Illinois Bowfishers is a relatively young club, and we're just getting into the website thing this year.

In the meantime, read all you can, and ask as many questions as you've got. Everybody here is more than willing to help you out.

Welcome aboard!

hello medic, watch out about 20 some odd years ago I went out for a long needed break, I took my fishing pole and bow along with me in the boat for a day of R&R. I planned on fishing the morning and evening, then filling in the afternoon carping. I saw my first carp about 9 am. and shot fish till the sun went down, I got a bad case of one more time , it has lasted for 20 some odd years now!! So watch out this " hobby" can get ahold of ya. This sight is great ,its nice to know that there are peoplethat lovethis" hobby" as much as I do. ( WARNING!!! ) If you start shooting those bigheads,its all over for you!!!!!Have Fun!!!

The "one more time" deal will get you for sure! I've lost days of work because of it! Last summer it was so bad for us that even after the troller batteries were completely dead and the prop wouldn't even turn, we couldn't stop. We were actually shooting carp in the direction of the ramp hoping they'd pull us that way! (It actually worked by the way)
