Team "Off in the Woods" (maybe if you're lucky I'll explain it to you someday) eliminated 12 commons from the DesPlaines Conservation area from shore and one smallmouth buff from the Aux Sable creek on April 13th.

Mark, is that new boat of yours also a time machine?? You're posting results for April 14th on today the 13th. So if you miss a shot, can you go backwards in time as well and redo it? Man, I've got to get one of those home made Orson Wells barges. Smart A$$ :D:D

I had a lot todo today, so I only managed to get out for a couple hours of bank shooting and wading on the Fox River. I hit one of my honey holes and it was loaded with fish.

29 common carp
5 quillbacks

This morning I went back to the same place I was at yesterday. Not as many fish today, but I was mostly shooting photos anyway. What I was really hoping for was another crack at that mirror carp. I only see two or three of them a year around here, so it's always a nice bonus when I end up shooting one.

The carp seemed to wait until I set down my recure and picked up my camera, because I saw more fish through my SLR than over the top of a fiberglass shaft. I still managed to shoot a few fish, and even ran into the mirror carp again. Didn't choke this time though! :D

Team Carp-Sandwich has a total this year of 12-commons and 3-quillbacks. All from Somonauk-creek, a feeder of the Fox.

My 3 year old daughter got to see me get my first2 fish of the year near the South side of Joliet on 4/23. It's really cool being a kid's hero.

Lake Sangchris opened this Monday: we shot 7 commons on Monday evening and I shot another6 this afternoon. Slower than I thought it would be both days, but I did find a new small spot that should produce well as long as the water doesn't go back down too soon.

Got 6 more common carp last Sat 4/29.
Des Plains Conservation area, sunrise.

They are in the weeds beds near shore, but they go deep once the sun is over the trees. No finning or tailing at the surface, just cruising silently without a wake. You gotta watch closely.

I didn't have a lot of time today, but I got another common this morning, same place, but they were rolling out further from shore this time, and closer to the opposite bank. I think they just wanted to see me hike alll the way around. They got their wish, and I brought home the only one that was dumb enough to hang around while I made the 15 minutejourney.

Howdy Ho!

I went out last night at Evergreen. Not much luck in the shallows in main lake. The carp definitely stopped balling up in the shallows (I'm no expert at this, but I think the key to shooting these fish from the shoreline is to come out mid-day when the sun is out and the water is at its warmest). It got kind of cold, so I went down below the spillway. I ended up with 5 Commons and my first Silver! The silver was only 4 pounds, but boy did it fight! I missed a quite a few, but I still had a blast! I may go back down there tomorrow night. Any takers?

Christine, Well yesterday I went out and wacked 10 common carp. Today Kbi-prez and I got 20 more and 2 mirror carp. I also got a nice 17 pounder. So will be hopefully sending in to BAA.

I got out again this morning, and got 2 common carp and a small long-nosed gar. Didn't expect to see the predator, but there he was on the end of an arrow.

The gar meat is in the freezer to be grilled up when I get enough of it to screw up a recipe, and the carp meat and entrails are in the freezer to get tilled into my veggie garden next weekend. Ah, renewable resources.

Went to Dawson for the first time today. Christine managed to get two in the boat, while I managed to miss everything I shot at.

I got out today also. I wasn't going to post about it, because I only got ONE. But he was a small one and they're harder to hit. It was a quillback.

Well after the great day Johnny and I had saturday we went out last night to the tune of only 2 common carp....cold and muddy water czant figure out the muddy water thing unless boat traffic was high duringf the day...

We shot 6 commons at the spillway at Evergreen during the day. Everybody seemed to out enjoying the weather. It was too busy to put in the boat on the lake and there wasn't enough room between bankfishers to politely walk around.

At the spillway, it was just us, the carp, a couple of gar, at least one water snake and a bunch of poison ivy and wild parsnip. (I think I saw two silver or bigheads, but I can't be 100%)

Later we went to Dawson. Got there around 11:30pm. Everybody had gone home so we had that lake to ourselves too.

The carp weren't up in huge numbers but they were out. You can get up in the flats now, the water is up.

We shot like poo-poo but still ended up with 14 carp and 1 buffalo that weighed almost 16lbs.

So.. add 20 common carp and 1 buffalo. :D

I went out a couple of times over the weekend, and got 2 more commons and1 short-nosed gar from DPCA.

The 40 degree nights really cooled off the action, at least in the morning when I was able to get out. I'm starting to run into other bowfishermen out on the water. It's good to see.

HEY!!! Who's supposed to update this? I'm curious to see where we're at. And you were right Christine, it was 26 fish saturday, not 21 like I thought.

I know. The final tally wasn't done on either of them.

Okay, what do you all think we can do this year as far as a grand total? I don't think that 4000 rough-fish is out of the question.

My suggestion would be to condenseboth threads and keep the running total on top pegged and edit the first post as needed. This is much too confusing to dig up the latest count.

How about changing this threads's title to "Add to the 2006 IB Fish Count Here" ? It might help clarify in the future since people may not read the whole text before posting.
