Default Remington ammunition

I have a Remington 742 Woodsmaster 30/06 my Dad handed down to me. He has been using Remington corelocked 180 gr soft tip ammo. I have never used reminton ammo I have always shot Federal Ammo. Is the Remington ammo a good quality ammo?

bgcorn:

I have been using Remington ammo for years (.308 150 grn psp) and haven't lost a deer yet. Give Rem. a try - if your dad was successful with it, what have you got to loose?

My 10 year old Grandson Ben just killed his first deer, an 8pt buck with a .243 using Rem. 100 grain corelocked ammo. The deer was faceing away at an angle, the bullet broke the last rib on the "in" side and a rib on the "offside" before lodging in the hide. I recovered the mushroomed slug and weighed it...67.1 grains. Thats 67.1% PS the buck piled up after 30 yards. That is performance!

I have shot just about everything, and really like my Remington ammo. I currently use them in my 7mm Rem. Mag (140 Core-lokts) and in my 30-30 ( 170 gr. Core-lokts) and they preform great. I also like that they arent that expensive. Give them a try you should be impressed if not your not out that much money since they are realitvely inexpensive.

When I used a 742 I shot the 180 PSP corelockts, and had excellent performance on game. It shot them better than the 150 or 165 corelockts.

I've been shooting 180gr. Corelockt SP out of my .30/06 for years and they've always shot true. Good precision and weight retention. Good value too. They haven't given me any reason to switch.

I've been using Remington CoreLokts for a long time and they have always performed well for me.For a less expensive ammo they are hard to beat.I use 170 gr 270 Win and 170 gr 7mm Rem Mag Corelokts..

You're kidding, right? Seriously, I don't think this is even a legitimate question to ask about the major ammo manufacturers (Winchester/Remington/Federal/Hornaday). It's all "good quality" ammo, it's just a matter of your gun probably shooting one brand better than the other - my Remington rifle prefers Federal ammo over Remington in 150 gr ammo (the $15/box loads - not the higher dollar stuff).
