Default Best 3-9x40 rifle scope...

Looking to get opinions on some scopes. I'm looking to stay under $250 if possible. Walmart has a leupold for $199 but i'm not sure what series it is????

It's the Rifleman line. I have one, and it's a great scope for the money. The quality is good and there is a lifetime warranty. You might also want to consider the Nikon Buckmaster line (the 3-9x40 runs about the same price). Both are great deer rifle scopes.

If you need to step down a notch, take a look at the Nikon ProStaff scopes. The 3-9x40 goes for about $150, but I've seen it online for $125.

There are some good 3x9x40 scopes around for under 250.00 I have a Leupold 3x9x40 in the VX l model which it 199.00 to 120.00. I have a 3x9x40 Swift scope which was 100.00 Several Bushnell scopes including the 3200 series and trophy series can be had for under 250 for the 3200 and about 100.00 for the trophy model. Check the Burris as well. We are in an age where we have some good options for less money. I also have a leupold Rifleman scope that seems like a good scope. I have not had a chance to try it. The Simmons Aetec may be one of the very best of the value priced scopes at about 130 bucks the critics have nothing but good things to say about them. I have one of those as well and they are terrrific scopes for that price, 5 inches of eye relief and they will stand up to the biggest boomers out there.

Bushnell Elite 3200 or Burris FF II both can be found for 200 range and IHMO are both better than the Leupold Rifleman Series (reasons why coatings, fully multicoated vs exterior, click adjustments & 1 piece tube construction). All though never used I have heard many mention Sightron in the same league as the Elite or FFII as well.

I personally like the Burris Scopes. Just my .02 cents though. Because I think buying a scope or any type of gun, is like buying a truck. Which is best. Chevy, Ford, or Dodge.....I like the Chevy best.

I like my Bushnell Elite 3200 with rainguard. It is clear and the rain and fog does not keep you from shooting a nice deer.

Got a bushnell on my .22, works, cant say much else because its just on my .22. Dont have a deer rifle, because there is no rifle season here. But wondering if I should get a scope for my Rem 870 or my CVA muzzleloader.

the Zeiss conquest is an expensive scope!!! Im sure its worth the money.

I got three questions.....First in the Cabela's 04 Shooting magazine they have the Bushnell 3200. They have the 3200 XR or something for 250 or somewhere around there and the 3200 with fast focus for 199. Is the one for 199 the one you guys are talking about? And also is the Burris FF II fully rain/fog proof? It doesnt say in the cabela's. And last which scope do you guys preffer the Bushnell or Burris?
