A friend of mine is looking for a GPS.
He wants a basic unit which he can turn on at the end of a hunting day and use to find his way back to camp.
He doesn't want anything fancy. Just something that is easy to use and jets good reception under trees or on rainy days.
The Garmin Geko 201 sounds like it has all his needs covered with respect to functions.
The things I question are:
1) It doesn't have averaging. So does that mean that he has to be moving in order to get an accurate fix on his position?
2) Due to it's small size, does the antenna still lock in on satellites under tree canopy or under cloud cover?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Geko 201 is great. I've tested this unit along with several other that also had the WAAS capability, and the Geko outperformed the others. It was by far the most accurate, and even least expensive. Great new technology. Good luck.
