Norco,
Look on eBay. You can find a killer deal on a brand new scope, plus you can "buy it now" to avoid the hassel of winning a bidding war. I bought a brand new, in the box Leupold VX-II last fall for $258 TOTAL and I couldn't be happier with it.
This is a good time to buy anything hunting related. You have plenty of time to find a good deal and sellers have to get rid of their old stock.

My advice is save a little more money up and buy a good scope instead of these cheaper ,lower end scopes. They'll cost you more in the long run.I can't see buying a decent rifle then top it off with a cheap scope. The rifle can only shoot as well as the scope, ammunition and shooter will allow.Check several shooters supply houses and you can find good deals on good scopes. www.Midsouthshooterssupply.com has a Leupold close out going on right now.Do a little researching and you'll find good buys on good scopes.Like has been said millions of times before "You get what you pay for". This is very true in optics

If I would have waited on my hunting until I could afford a high dollar scope, I would have missed the first thirty years of hunting. That don't make any sense to me.
. Never missed an oppertunity on a game animal because I couldn' afford a Luepold or One of the other big names.

I agree, you would be better off saving your money until you can afford abetter scope. The lower end leopold you can get for just over $200, and if you can't wait, I have a $75 3-9 bushnell on my groundhog gun and never had a bit of a problem with it.

Thanks for the help guys, appreciate all the input. I did decide to buy a 4200 Elite w/ firefly and took the advice to buy it on ebay. I paid $330 US which included the shipping. Have'nt got the scope yet but am sure it will work well for a few years.
Cheers!!
