In the years after that, I was able to kill some good bucks, watch some friends kill some big deer, and made a ton of memories. I also learned a ton about these deer, and how to hunt them. I expanded my range of areas that I hunted these deer, throughout Northwest Montana and Northern Idaho. I've hunted private land/river bottom whitetail as well, and to me, they're all but two separate species. I do enjoy hunting whitetail in cottonwoods and willows, but it is nothing like hunting dark horned bucks in the big larch/pine woods on the National Forest.
