Default Clothing

Hey everyone im new here, nice to meet you all. SO ill put it like this...ive hunted for years but always with my dad. always used my dads clothes, gear and all that. So im finally going all out and finally buying my own gear of everything. I live in NY and will be hunting on my folks property and also signing up for a fish and game club. The camo pattern i would use is hardwoods(if its called that). My question is Can someone give me some good brand of clothing to check out. I do not want to buy something that i am just paying for the name of the brand. I hunt turkey in the Spring and fall and Hunt whitetails in November and December. Nov and Dec around here in NY can get quite cold and the spring can be either hot or cool. For deer i hunt from a tree stand and turkeys i just sit in front of a big tree and put a rollup blind with stakes that go in the ground in front of my feet. Currently i wear glasses and face masks ALWAYS fog my glasses up like crazy but will be getting contacts soon so i have grown to love face paint. looking for a good brand of that or anything i can home make. Im looking for decent pants, tshirts, sweaters, jackets, and gloves. I have great boots already. I like my gloves tight feeling. i hate loose bulky gloves. thanks guys for your help!!

I use a lot of MT50 stuff from Cabelas. Especially the bibs. I seem to live in them in the fall. The upfront price is stiff but if you take care of them the last quite a long time. Mine are 10+ yrs old. And I wear them Turkey hunting, Early Deer Hunting, Duck Hunting, Dog Training, Wood Cutting, get the idea. Warm out but damp maybe a pair of skivvies and the bibs and a pair of Muck boots. Cooler a pair of light wt long johns to mid wt if colder.
I own a few different camo patterns to mix and match. It is not so much the camo pattern but the movement at the wrong time that gives you away.

And I layer. Far eaiser to take it off than not have it and freeze. If you walk a lot you don't need much. But if you sit you need extra. Goretex is a great wind block.

I like my base layer to be poly propylene followed by a light fleece and then a heavier fleece and then maybe a goretex layer. I will wear no cotton.

This has served me very well.

Nowadays I wear whatever I need to stay cool or to stay warm.

Then I put a one piece 3-D camo suit over it.

I peel off "under layers" when necessary..................

A great way to acquire camo stuff is to remind everyone how much you LOOOOVE camo at Christmas time.

I generally get great stocking stuffers like hot pockets-style hand warmers and warm socks.

A good thing to remember is that "old" camo patterns and hunting equipment often go on sale after deer season. Also, check out warehouse outlets and army/navy stores. I've picked up some good stuff at a local pawn shop that sells army surplus.

Totally doing that this year! Although my wife always says "that's not fun. I don't want to buy that". (hence the reason I never get any of the tools that I ask for either...)

As mentioned by others, keep in mind that a solid base layer is critical. I've done other posts about it, but I find the best price for quality thermals is at outersports.com.

I have yet to find a perfect pair of gloves. Warm ones are too bulky for me. Thin ones don't usually provide the warmth. So I'm no help there.

Dress in layers that you can take off or put on as the temp changes. Cant stand gloves, I put a hand warmer in each side pocket on my coat.

When it gets really cold, I love my glommits. They keep my hands warm yet allow me to free my fingers to shoot. I have one pair that I have cut out the first two fingers on the right hand which allows me to put on my bow release, then fit the glommit over it. Then I can still pull the mitt part over it all and keep that hand all warm.

You cant get much tougher or long lasting clothing than Carhartt, and I've seen it in about every camo pattern there is.

I had to look up what these were. I didn't know they really had a name. I often find myself wearing these - but same problem, fingers get cold. And terrible if you know they're going to get wet.
