After something like 8 years of use and near abuse, my cold weather hunting boots have finally died. The right boot upper has cracked at a flex point and the crack has widened as the season has gone along. Looking for replacement.
I need support, ruggedness and could use some insulation (200 to 600 gr. or so) .... and water proof. I hunt all sorts of terrain from eastern Montana bad lands to SW Texas dusty mesquite laden hills to mushy Louisiana palmetto swamps. Also do a bit of hunting in rugged terrain spot-stalking, covering miles in a day.
The Danner Trophy 600 10" seems like a good choice as a heavy duty, cold weather boot. However, I am open to any proven boot. $$$ not an object. Looking for suggestions.

The Lowa Hunter Extreme gtx are starting to go on sale:

I take it they are being discontinued and replaced by the Hunter Extreme Evo. They are awesome boots, but only about 200grams of primaloft for insulation. If that's enuf insulation, I'd jump on them (I picked up a pair on sale last year, and they are the most comfortable footwear, except maybe some running shoes, that I've ever owned).
