I have the lowrance iFinder Hunt GPS (non-color model) now and the battery life on it stinks. Their website says "up to 12 hours". I get 4 at the most.

I can put in 2 new AA batteries in the morning and they're dead before I leave in the afternoon.

I would like to get a new unit that is better on battery life AND has software available that I can download the waypoints into.

Any ideas????

They are tough little buggers and battery life is good as well as the ability to up load and download.

When you decide to buy try Ebay for a much better price.
Another thing you mentioned batteries. Every damn thing I own runs on batteries and I get tired of buying . Might want to check out the rechargable. I went this route and always have half dozen charged.
They cost a little more but even if you only recharged them twice you have paid for them.

Looks pretty cool about $200 new on Ebay. My only question is how big of an area is the 12 map's it holds and do the cover the world or just certain area's. I guess it would be great for the states.

When I looked into it further, I had the same question. I guess you could buy the 25 map package and that should last awhile. At least if you're going to the same areas over and over again.

I like that it combines 3 screens into one.

I've used Garmins extrex Legend, extrex and Magellans Explorist 100. Magellan gets better reception in wood areas, with the Garmins I kept loosing the signals. The Explorist 100 is inexpensive and is very good get you in and out GPS. I also use it for geocaching.

I don't think you can go wrong with Garmin. I've used one for years here in the mountains without any problems. Try switching to Lithium or rechargeable batteries.

People hide little goodies all over and give you the quardenents ( Yah Yah spelling sucks) and you try and find it. Some are just a log book to sign once you have located it , it can be a 100's of thing do a google and it will explain more.
