don't buy the Nikon 440, i am disappointed with mine. don't get me wrong, it is a nice unit but i did not do enough research on it before i bought it. it only measures up to just under 400 yards. i was hoping to get more out of it. i know 99% of my shots are 300 yards or less, but i wanted the ability to range further. other than the limited range, the 440 is a good unit.

If you truly want the best get the Leica BRF Rangefinding Binoculars... They offer the best of both in a single package allowing the hunter one less piece of gear and clutter. I am very, very happy with mine and so too were the guides on all my hunts.

Leica is the only way to go. I bought the LRF 1200 about 2 years ago for elk hunting, because we would see the elk across the mountain, and wanted to now how far the shot was. Very typical situation in West TX deer hunting. It works fantastic, highly recommended.

I have a Nikon 600 that is great. I bought it used on ebay and does all I "need". If money were not an object, I would buy the Leica. Next the Nikon Monarch. Then what I ended up with.
I was really thinking I would buy a Leupold, but after I looked at them I liked the Nikon much better. Simpler and easier to read. I just felt the bells and whistles on the Leupold were distracting and didn't add anything for me. I just want to point it and push a button, not worry about what setting it is on, etc.
