Gentlemen!
I purchased one of the Gerber Carnivore flashlights from Sportsmans Guide. Night before last I shot a real nice doe (150#) through both lungs. My wife and I tracked it and I used the Carnivore light.... Today I am sending it back to Gary Olan. It totally sucks compared to the old Coleman lantern. The flashlight part works o.k. but the blood did not appear to be neon against the dark background, as advertised, when using the red and blue light.$45 is way to much for this old boyto spend on a flashlight.I hope you are not mislead by the advertisement. This is the first time I have been disappointed in a product from S.G...

My wife says "liar, liar, pants on fire, nose as long as a telephone wire". You must have stock in the company, eh. Perhaps it doesn't work on does. Gary Olen retired, but the company still stands by their 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. If that little smiley of yours is making an obscene gesture, its cute. Bring it on.

im i bit colorblind and cant see blood at all. red and brown look just alike to me when tracking deer. if blood is wet and shiny, I CANT see it. im seriously thinking about trying one of these lights. even if it doesnt make a big difference, anything would be an improvement. anyone else colorblind?

My brother has one and the regular flashlight worked much better then the red blue light.
I didn't see any advantage from the light. I think it is a complete waste of money.

Look at Wal-Mart. Winchester has their version called the "hunt light" It's smaller, just as bright and is 15 bucks compared to 50 and we all already have regular flashlights. Just food for thought. And it does work

I bought one two weeks ago and it just so happens my dog cut her foot and I went out side at dark and her blood did show up really well. I tried it in the field to see what it would doon the red leaves on the ground and it made them "jump out" also. So I am gonna keep it, it will make the color red jump out on the ground. And the flash light is pretty powerful for a little light I use it when I coyote hunt.

Ithink it worksok with wet blood, it is not CSI material or anything though. Hey, here is a place that sells it for only $36.72! I spoke with them and they are currently out of stock but have more coming in within a week. Here is the link: http://www.tylertool.com/gerber30.htmlThey have great prices on just about anything they sell.....Dave

Do they still sell that starlight bloodhound stuff in the spray bottle? I think that's what it was called. It was supposed to make blood glow when you sprayed it on a blood trail. That might work better than this flashlight. I always wondered about those Game Tracker gizmos that are supposed to track a deer by infrared heat, has anyone ever used one? I always thought they were the biggest joke out there.

I had to use the Starlight Bloodhound stuff this year and it DOES work. You need complete darkness to see it glow, though, so it works better if you bring flashlights with you instead of a lantern. The only complaint I have about the Starlight Bloodhound is that it also lit up the moss that grows in our woods, too, so we had lots of false positives until we realized what was going on. Once we started spraying it only on the leaves, we were able to establish the line the deer had travelled and found it quickly.
I wanted to buy a Carnivore, but the store was sold out. Being desperate (it was raining and dark and I had a deer down in the woods), we grabbed the next best thing we could find.
