Default Artic Cat vs. Bombardier

If you were to choose between the Artic Cat 400 and a Bombardier 400, whuch would you choose and why?

I heard that Artic Cat's have alot of Suzuki parts on them. Not that this is bad, it is just that Artic Cat touts being the only American made ATVs out there.

I heard that the Polaris' have issues with their belts. I have a couple of buddies that have a Polaris and the like it...when it isn't in the shop!!! No slam on Polaris, as I haven't had a ton of exposure to them.

Yep! If you don't need a 4 Wheeler, Polecat, er, Polaris would be the one to get! It'llspend most of its timein the shop!

I recently purchased the 400 Outlander after riding all the rest. I have owned Kawasaki and Yamaha and test rode all of the big 3 manufactures before purchasing, none compares to the 400 unless you need the 800, which I don't. Second place was the Polaris, and that wasn't even close. Technology, comfort, performance and reliability, they have it all. When it comes to a 4x4 in the 400 and up class it’s amazing.

Got to tell you right off the bat - I like AC. You are right the enginesare Suzuki - but all the rest of it is designed abd built by AC.

I have a 2002 AC 500 with independent supension all the way around. I tried to put it in the shop last year - for a routine check-up, most important I wanted valve clearance checked - he did all the checks but did not do any work on it all - told me to take it home and keep riding.

When I was reseaching my purchase, one of the machines I was interested in was the Bombardier, because I had their snowmobiles - I ended up with the AC one because of price - two local vendor - 3 durability. 4 two speed transfer case, which I still have not needed but it is there if I need that additional power...

Gut Check: I purchased the 400 HO XT model with rear rack for $6,350. There was a promotion on at the time that included the rack. Before you buy any, ride a couple from each manufacturer in the size you prefer then ride the Outlander. I had the opportunity to demo the 800 and 400 for a weekend with a local dealer, some of his friends and customers. I really liked the 800 until I rode the 400 HO. I don't need the power of the 800, that unit is for someone that needs a serious work or tow vehicle. The 400 model felt like it was custom made for me.
