i use to own a polaris and i loved it...i had the 700 sportsman. the belts are an issue BUT if you use your low range when pulling or when needed, you won't burn up the belt. i also had submerged it several times and water does not make the belt slip. the only time you have belt issues is if the belt slips (running in high when you should be in low). polaris is the only one i have ever owned so i can't compare it to anything else, i can only tell you about it.

Out of the two quads, the Outlander is by far the best of those two.

Do not hesitate to look at the Japenese brands. My family and I have Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. I hate to say it, but the Jap brands are better made than the North American brands. Its like comparing Toyota and Subaru to Ford and Chevy.

My personal ride is a 660 Grizzly. I love it! I have friends that have or have had Polaris and Artic Cat. Some of them hated their Polaris because it ALWAYS had problems. The others never came out and said they liked or disliked their quads, but they always were asking alot of questions of owners of Jap brand quads. Asking about problems and prices. It seemed to me they wanted to get something else.

artic cat always seems to have a little lower price range that makes it easier in the desicion but anything from what ive seen out on the snowmobile trails bombardier is quality stuff. i saw a show on there line of quads and if i had to go with just one over the other the bomber wins.

Done Deal. I went with the Bombardier Outlander 400. Picked it up with the Advantage Timber. I upgraded the wheels and tires and put the ITP C-Series Wheels with Mud Lites Tires.
