I dont thingk the ranger was made to replace the p/u trk as far as milage goes my trk gets better gas milage then my ranger, but for haulen wood, dirt, deer, pullen out small stumps with some effert and moveing my boat and pontune around it works well for me.I have had no mech, problums at all. I guess its what you want them to do too actualy what they were made to do.I belive this is for all ohvs.

Not trying to start an ATV bashing war, but... not surprised about the relibiality of the Polaris. My first hand experence with them and knowing many folks that own them they are not known for "high reliability". The Japanese ones from the big guys, Suz, Yam, Honda, Kaw seem to last and last and last. The polaris machines dont seem to hold up as well. Just my 2 cents.

Forgot to say on last post.
I do use a snow blade on my 500 and use a grondhaug on it also. the groundhaug is a frontend hydrolic loader, lifts 300 lbs about 36inches just right for land scapeing,or whatever.

On our site the speeds are very low and both trucks and rangers do spend time idling to keep them warm. The rangers do use less fuel under these conditions.I think the biggest issue is that both our trucks and rangers are running pretty much continually every day and this makes reliability and maintenance much more of an issue than for the person that only puts a few hundred hours on an atv each year.

The engines have not been the problem. The problem has been the rest of the driveline.

I just bought a Honda Rancher 350 ES and am very impressed with
the total performance of this machine.I am a big man,300lbs and it
does not want for power and can get you in trouble if you dont use
a litte caution when giving it the power, great machine,I love it!

Honda Rancher! 90% of hunters would be served well with a Rancher! If you needed more muscle, then a larger Honda! But a Honda none the less!
