The best breed of hunting dog depends entirely on what you hunt and how you prefer to hunt.

Hey Doc,

I agree with you it depends on what you are hunting. Deer Hunter 72 I think you need to look into a German Wirehair. I have hunted with them for over 40 years and for my money they are the best to be had. Mine will tree Bobcats, blood trail deer, hunt duck, love the water and hunt upland birds from dusk to dawn. They also make excellent family dogs. Because of the course hair they also are easy to clean up after a hard days hunt. By the way I have had most of the other breeds plus a few other types. Not in anyway bashing other dogs to each their own. But Wirehairs are tough to beat for an all around hunting/family dog.

No such thing. I only hunt upland, hence any blood tracking dog is useless to me. So, are they worthless overall? Absolutely not. My 'preference' is the english setter then english pointer.
