range on 30-30
#2
A 30-30 is good (consistently) to about 100 yds. With the new Hornady Leverevolution ammo you can double that. 30-30 is a nice brush gun and a lot of deer are killed with them, but generally not a long range shooter.
#3
The primary limitation on the 30-30 is the shooter, not the cartridge. A well-placed shot at 300 yards is still enough to easily take down a wild hog. It's reputation as a short-range cartridge is due to bullet drop, not lethality. To accurately shoot a 30-30 at distance takes a lot of practice and an accurate range estimate.
