I dont believe hogs and deer eat the same food supply, deer browse on shoots on the ends of foliage, hogs root the ground.

Hogs will eat just about anything that has a calorie. They will eat grass and forbs and mast (acorns) which are also things that deer eat. I cut into the stomach of a large sow last year and it was full of grass. Hogs, like everything else, have their preferences, but they'll eat whatever is available when they're hungry. And they're always hungry . . .

Bait with corn.
