Hog Hunts in Tennesee or South Carolina?
Hi -
Its my first time on this site. I am interested in hunting Hogs in the east - Tennessee or other southern state (besides Fla.). Want to keep the distance to no more than 12 hr. by car from So. Jersey. I didn't see a word about Tennessee or the Carolina's. I want to earn my hog, no guide wanted - just access to good land were hogs are located. Can I purchace access/lodging for say a 3 day hunt at a reasonable rate?
Please advise.
Thanks, and happy hunting.

Welcome to the site,
There's lots of info here to look through. South Carolina has lots of hogs in the swamps but most of it is private hunting clubs. There are a few WMAs that have hogs that are open to the public but they're hunted so heavily the hogs are mostly nocturnal. A quality hunt at one of the reputable lodges would be your best bet if you want to have a reasonable opportunity for a hog especially if you're looking for a trophy.
Good Luck looking!

I live in east tn and have tried hunting hogs on our public land, but there just arent many there, but they are there. And from what i have heard and read there is not many free ranging wild hogs in tn,unless you want to hunt a preserve (fenced hunt) i would probly suggest to go to south carolina,i hear they have quite a bit of free ranging hogs. But if you are willing to do a hunt at a hunting preserve i know of several right around me,one is 1200 acre presreve which is pretty big to be a fenced hunt.
