There is a record book for hogs. It scores by measurements instead of weight since most people don't have access to certified scales. Boar Hunter Magazine keeps up with the system and posts pictures. Check them out.

Age and genetics. Kinda like a deer, the older boars get smart and tend to be more nocturnal. The older boars tend to be nomadic and like to be alone. Believe it or not, a hog is pretty darn smart and has a great sense of smell.

No answer to your question but I'm sure that it involves age and variety of feral hog present there.
Males have the big canine teeth and they continue to grow all of their life. The length is curtailed by the wear on the upper tooth, but on occasion the upper tooth gets broken or is misaligned and the lower tooth will grow almost in a full circle.
