So you can shoot slugs out of a standard shotgun barrel? Wow learn something new all the time. Never been a shotgun shooter just rifle so this is all new to me. So basically all I need is rifled slug shells and an Improve Cylinder choke and I am set? Also these shotguns I am going to borrome one of them. Basically just to see how I like it and what not and later I will be buying my own. At that time I will likely be buying a combo 835.

Also, the more open the choke the better. No tighter than modified, and cylinder choke or improved cylinder is better.
Correct!

Well, welcome to slug-shooting! You can also buy the 'rifle slug' screw-in chokes so you can shoot the saboted slugs. The screw-in choke has the rifling in it for the sabots. If I'm shooting a smoothbore, I have better accuracy shooting the rifled slugs but rifled slugs are sometimes hard to find (usually sold out) so Ipop inthe rifled-slug screw-in choke so I can use available sabots.

One more thing, if you're new to slug shooting, remember that's about an ounce of lead you're fixing to fire out the end of your gun and it's probably going to have plenty of kick on your end!

Heres what I use. My girlfriend bought it for me a few weeks back. They have it for the 500 and 835. Just a heads up for when you purchase your gun. If I could do it over again I would go with the 835 so I could shoot 3 1/2 for turkey. I have been shooting Lightfield hybreds and they are awesome. I stick to the 2 3/4 and they still kick like a mule. Good luck to you.

Mossberg does not recommend that! Their barrels are Back Bored and some Over Bored. They recommend that you use Improved Smooth with Rifled Slugs or Rifled Barrel with Sabots.

I don't think that matters much if your shots are going to be close. The main thing is that different slugs don't seem to hit the same point of aim, so you'll need to buy 3 or 4 different types and try them to see which your gun shoots accurately.
10-4, good buddy!

I am going hog hunting in December at Shiloh ranch in December. I may use my bow, or my mzl or my shotgun.

If I use my bow----> 430 grains, 100 grain silver flames (I hope) at 250 fps.

If I use my MZL----> 330 grain lead sabot with 110 grains of Black Mag 3

If I use my SG------> Mossberg 695 with 2 3/4" lightfield hybred sabot.

I think I'll have all the bases covered.
