Question for Florida Hog Hunters
#11
i'm just now getting into serious swamp hunting. i'm gonna hunt in richloam wma. almost all of it is in swamp, some pretty deep. i would just walk carefully and have your weapon ready just in case. i'm thinking of getting some hip waders for the really deep stuff. my snake boots don't go high enough. if it's really deep i know someone who actually takes a 10 foot john boat into the swamp and paddles to his spot. but i guess it depends how think it is.

Chuck, I usally put them on both sides of the tree when going in. You would be able to see them going in and commimg out in the dark.
About Bay Heads, I stood next to a Black Bear in the middle of abay head pitch darkonce in Aucilla WMA.

Reb,
Where you been at.I thought you'd be one of the first to reply.
Quick questions for ya Reb. for you have hunted alot of the same terrain as me.also concerning the bear. If that ever happened to me I'd start wearing Pampers.
Reb,
1. Did you mostly hunt in the bayheads or outside of the bayheads?
Chuck7.

Yeah,
I hear they carry a disease sometimes. If I get one I will save the back strap and sausage the rest. You know what Reb? The people at the gate are no longer allowed to check your license...because the are not game wardens. They just started that.

why would you be happy about the check station folks not being able to check...it keeps the unsavory folks out of the bunch hunting if you do....the permits should be checked regardless .i would hope that FWC will be there checking permits.....i know where i work they will continue to ask for them and if you refuse, you have that right, but you'll have to wait for the gamewarden to get there to check you in.....it's not a big deal, you have to be checked in anyway, so why not show them the permit as well....
