I had a 7400 for about three days. It jammed a few times on me, and I took it to a gun smith and he said that the action was pitted. If I were to buy a semi now I think it would be a Browning, but I really like those new Benellis.

I have not yet been out for hogs but one of my buddies went up to a hunt camp in Tioga county last year. He was using a Hoyt Raider bow and Beman ICS style carbons tipped with Wasp SSTs. He achieved a complete pass through. I would probably opt to hunt them with my bow as that is my preferred method. I would love to see if I could get full penetration with my Rocket Steelhead 100s as I hear that hogs are tough.

For up close and personal encounters in thick marsh scrub, I favour my Marlin 1895SS 45-70 and handloaded Remington 300gn HPs doing 2140ft/s ("The One Hit Wonder"). Since this photo was taken, I havemounted a 1.5-5x20mm Leupold (matte) on the Marlin.

For more open areas, like the western plains of NSW, I can't fault my Ruger M77 30-06 and Speer 165gn SPHotCors doing 2780ft/s.
