Default Action Bar Problem (picture)

Remington 1187 20ga, the action wouldn't close, took it to a local gunsmith, and I picked it up today. The note on the repair form said "Action Bar" as you can see in the picture it broke. He wasn't in the shop when I picked up, his wife was.

How does this piece break? I take care of all my firearms, I hunted with it once a few years and shot it at the range 2 years ago. The gun is spotless

Looking at you picture there may have been a flaw in the casting where it broke.

That's exactly what it looks like. I've seen this type of break on other castings. Looks like something to go back to the factory or send this pic to Remington and see if a local authorized repair facility can replace the part for you.

also, possible it was dropped on a hard edge, and well, the crack followed??
I have several 11/87's
and some seem tens of thousands of shells thru them (sporting clay's and skeet range guns)
never seen one fail like that.
I would think if it was at a rem authorized repair shop, rem would have covered it for you!

I purchased the gun about 6 yrs ago, maybe 30 shots thru it. I have two other 1187s zero issues
