Default Stripped screw

I stripped the heads of the 2 screws for the front scope base on my rifle. I bought a screw extractor to get them out but I'm afraid I will mess them up even more and really be, excuse the pun, screwed. Any suggestions before I give it or try or should I let a gunsmith do it?

what kind of screw is it? you can actually use good quality torx bits as broaches in robertsons, allen heads, phillips providing you recess the head slightly and of course stripped torx screws. if its a allen head then its about as easy as tapping the bit into the stripped area and then giving it a twist.

If you doubt your abilities take it to a smith. You do realize you don't need to use gorilla strength to tighten scope screws. Normally 20-25 inch pounds is all that is needed. That is not a lot of torque.
