The WSM's are loaded a little hotter and have a little better ballistics. The cases are shorter and fatter, so the action can be shorter and the gun made slightly lighter. The powder is supposed to burn more efficiently, so the WSM's require less and are supposed to have less recoil. Whether that's true or not, I can't say as I've never shot one. The 25 WSSM I have shot is a nice gun.
