provided that I can walk right up to him, stick the barrel in his ear and squirt his brains out the other side...any gun will do!

I'd grab any one of my Ruger No. 1's. They never jam, but if you only get one shot, jamming is immaterial, anyway. What you need is accuracy, and these have it!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

if you need to drop it in its tracks then you need to find the largest fasted bullet possible, remeber this is for money not just a deer, the only problem is the guns i have are limited, so id have to go with the biggest rifle ive got, a springfield 30-06

In conditions like that, I'm afraid Remington's triggers might break, or bolt handle, or some plastic might break. hehehe.

Winchester Model 70 in .270, I've used it in freezing rain, and dropped a deer in it's tracks.

Those weather conditions are normal for November in Maine!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
As my Marlin 45-70 has never let me down that would be my only choice. I have never seen another rifle drop deer where they stood as consistantly as that 1895SS.

o no...this is hard.....1 million$ to drop a deer in its tracks....id go order a 50bmg...only cost a few grand...thats nothing when u will have a million$ in a few days! and hitting a deer in the vitals with a 50bmg i dont think it would move...but if it would have to be a gun i already own......id grab the mauser 98k in 30.06 and fedrals 165gr nosler ballistic tips...and the leupold shouldnt fail...id shoot it like dangerous game and break the front legs while taking out the lungs too to add to the not moving part....
